ROM emulator ROMiCEmini
ROMiCEmini
ROMiCEmini is a real-time debugging tool incorporating ROM-in-circuit method. ROMiCEmini has been materialized to ultra compact body by the new technology incorporated while maintaining features of existing ROMICE64. The use of USB2.0 (high-speed) as a host interface allows faster processing of various tasks such as high-speed downloading at 10MByte/S or higher rate. Furthermore, it is equipped with dedicated connector for connection to the target as standard, which was optional to existing ROMICE64. This allows instant connection. Yet, it supports ROM socket connection. "CSIDE", Computex-made debugger software provided as standard, surely provides a user-friendly debugging environment and supports not only high-level language debugging of a range of C languages but also fully prepared for the debugging of a range of RTOSs.

ROMICE that incorporates ROM-in-circuit method for connection to the target uses the target CPU as it is to implement the debugging feature equivalent to that of in-circuit emulator.

Supports debugging of high-level language
Allows efficient debugging of high-level language by features for execution control and  variable reference/change at source level.
Highly-capable hardware break, real-time tracing feature
Implements hardware break by event functionality that allows address, data, and status specification. In addition, real-time tracing feature supports tracing of bus at 50MHz high speed.
Performance measurement feature
Accommodates features essential for evaluation of program performance: Execution time measurement feature, interval execution time measurement feature, and profiling feature.
Also suitable for ASIC micro computer
In-circuit debugger incorporating ROM-in-circuit method is suitable for ASIC micro computer not accommodating on-chip debugging feature.

Usability was further improved by ultra compact body and simplified connection.

Compact size
Materialized to Computex standard palm-sized ultra compact body.
Size: 106mm(W)×78mm(D)×29.5mm(H)
Instant connection
Allows instant connections to the host computer with USB interface employed.
Instant connection to the target
Employed 0.5mm-pitched, 50-pinned connector for instant connection to the target.
32P/40P/42P ROM socket adapters are also available for target connection.

Supports low voltage
Supports 1.8V-5V for target voltage.
High-speed, large-capacity emulation memory
Supports up to 50ns for time to access emulation memory, equipped with memory of 4MB as standard.

Employed USB2.0 for host interface to realize faster processing of downloading and all sorts of tasks.

High-speed downloading at 10MByte/S
Allows file transfer to emulation memory at 10MB/S by USB2.0(high-speed) support.

By unique internet key issuing system, real-time support for newly added CPU, update to the latest version, range of optionally purchased software, etc. has been made feasible.

Adding new CPU
When support is provided for new CPU, debugging of the CPU can be started right upon acquisition of debugger software and license file through Internet. (Some support for adding CPUs are free, while others are charged.)
Updating to the latest version
When the debugger software has been updated, the latest version of debugger software can be acquired through Internet by using CSIDE Update Wizard (application).
Instant use of range of optional software
Optional software can be used right upon license acquisition through Internet following the purchase of the optional software.

Provided with integrated development environment "CSIDE" as standard
Provided with integrated development environment as standard for seamless implementation of development phases from creation of the program to debugging.
Real-time OS support(Optional)
By additionally purchasing optional RTOS Debug Library besides debugger software, task tracing feature and status display feature for real-time OS will be added.(Specifications vary by real-time OS.)

(1)Basically requires the target system that can run on ROM/RAM basis at least.
(2)Must allow the monitor program always resident in the user memory.(128Bytes-4KBytes)
(3)Must allow allocation of a few - 100Byte working RAM for monitor program use.
(4)Must allow NMI pin connection.(Essential for hardware break feature)
(5)Advisable to have 1 exception vector free (for software break feature)
(6)Advisable to connect reset output signal from ROMiCEmini to the target
